Museums and Art Galleries
Museums and Art Galleries are all closed but online – they are open and great for exploring. Brilliant resources available from many sources. Here are a few suggestions..
The British Museum
has made its online collections free to the public. Enjoy hours of looking through the history of Britain.
Natural History Museum
has free virtual tours plus lots of interesting guides and articles on different areas ranging from dinosaurs to the Romans and beyond.
British Library
Step inside the world of Harry Potter with the British Library exhibition. There are also other collections available here.
The National Gallery
View the latest exhibitions of amazing art from a variety of artists with a virtual tour.
Tate Gallery
has a 360-degree virtual tour online plus lots of different insights into modern art.
The Science Museum
Resources from all our Museums, including activities, games and videos. Discover activities to support a range of curriculum topics for use in the classroom, in museum galleries and beyond.
Imperial War Museums
Discover History with real stories from people who were there.
Ashmolian Museum
The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford has a wide variety of learning resources available.
Nottingham Contemporary
Here in Nottingham, the Nottingham Contemporary has lots of ideas for parents on its webpages.
Musee D’Orsay
In the centre of Paris on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Tuileries Gardens, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
Guggenheim Museum, New York
Google’s Street View feature lets visitors tour the Guggenheim’s famous spiral staircase without ever leaving home. From there, you can discover incredible works of art from the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary eras.
Langley Research Centre
Explore NASA Langley. See an exciting new view inside our remarkable facility. For more than 100 years, our Researchers have been pioneers and innovators, working in the interlocking fields of Aerospace, Engineering and Science.
Virtual Tours
You can take a free virtual tour of many of the best museums around the world, from Europe to Washington, D.C. All you need is your computer (and maybe a book about art history) to get started.
World Museums
Have a virtual tour of museums around the world with the help of Time “IN” magazine.
Tour the World and Beyond
Take a tour of some of the most famous places on Earth.. See the world from space, the snow in Lapland, elephants in Africa, Pandas in China and even the inside of Buckingham Palace..
See the Earth from Space
From EarthCam. Visitors can also enjoy views of planet Earth from this unmatched perspective. The station orbits the Earth once every 90 minutes, providing incredible views of a sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes.
Everest Base Camp
Everest Base Camp is perched on the Khumbu Glacier at the foot of Mount Everest is at an altitude of 5600 metres which is reached over a period of nine days with two complete rest days enroute. See the world from almost its tallest point.
Sydney Harbour
See the iconic view of Sydney, Australia live from the other side of the world. Look out for Opera House, Circular Quay and the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Dubai
Dubai is one of the world’s most popular destinations, for good reason. The city has evolved into a mega-urban empire that offers unparalleled luxury and grandeur. From fancy cars to mind-blowing architecture, there’s plenty to see and do in Dubai that you won’t have access to anywhere else in the world!
The Taj Mahal
India’s most famous monument, and a sublime shrine to eternal love. Built from between 1632 and 1647 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it is dedicated to Jahan’s favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
Nearly 5,000 years ago, outside the ancient city of Memphis, Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for their kings. Take a self-guided tour and explore one of the most famous archaeological sites on Earth.
Venice
A wonderful live view of the “floating city” – arguably one of the worlds most picturesque in the world and over 1200 years old. There are 177 canals and 417 bridges joining the 118 islands together.
The Sistine Chapel – Rome
The Vatican in Rome is home to the Pope and the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. View the Sistine Chapel and other wings and galleries with a digital tour.

Central London
Admire the city from sunrise to sunset with London webcams displaying daily shots and time-lapse footage, showcasing iconic landmarks including Big Ben and The Shard.
Buckingham Palace
An iconic building and official residence of The Queen. Explore this magnificent building via a virtual tour. See the Grand Staircase, White Drawing Room and the Throne Room.
The Houses of Parliament
Explore the Houses of Parliament on this 360° virtual tour which including the House of Commons and House of Lords.
Chester Zoo
Take a Virtual tour round Chester Zoo and see all the animals live and in video. See Cheetahs, Apes, Lions, Elephants and more..
Gorilla Sanctuary live
This feed – which operates day and night – shows gorillas doing what gorillas do best, at the GRACE gorilla conservation centre in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is where about 300 eastern lowland gorillas live – about 8% of the world’s total – and it won’t take long to see one on camera.
Happiness Village Baby Panda
Watch baby pandas grow into toddler pandas here at the Shenshuping Gengda Panda Center in China!
African Safari Camera
This live cam overlooks the main beach of the watering hole at Mpala Research Centre in central Kenya’s Laikipia County. Tune in at dawn and dusk local time to see the most animals, including hippos, hyenas, lions, leopards, giraffes, kudus, elephants and many more.
Tembe Elephant Park
Close to South Africa’s border with Mozambique. Most of the time, there will be at least a few elephants milling about – and the ones living her are reportedly the world’s largest. Every now and then, you might catch leopards, lions, rhinos and buffalo popping in for a drink.
National Aquarium in Baltimore
Walk through tropical waters to the icy tundra in this floor-by-floor tour of the famous, Baltimore-based aquarium.
Explore a Tropical Reef
This tropical reef exhibit is modelled after the coast of Palau and houses more than 1,000 animals.
The World’s largest Model Railway
Miniatur Wunderland (German for ‘miniature wonderland’) in Hamburg, Germany! The exhibit includes 1,300 trains made up of over 10,000 carriages, over 100,000 moving vehicles, ca. 500,000 lights, 130,000 trees, and 400,000 human figures.
Lapland
This might win a prize for the most remote live-stream of all – the 360-degree footage comes from the deep snow of northern Finland, above the Arctic Circle. Escape to the land of Snow!!
